Tri-Star Packaging has added a new eco-friendly oval bowl to its portfolio for food-to-go operators.
The new Oval Eco Street Bowl is made from a fully compostable sugar cane pulp, unbleached bagasse to present food-to-go options such as curries, noodles, pasta, burritos and salads.
The bowl has an optional ultra-clear rPET lid, which can be printed with a logo to enhance branding.
Made from recycled and recyclable materials, the lid acts as barrier by eliminating leakage while preventing flavor transfer between products stored in close proximity, according to Tri-Star.
Tri-Star Packaging managing director Kevin Curran said: "Our new Oval Eco Street Bowl addresses the simple ergonomics of eating. Our hands weren't designed for eating on the go out of round and square bowls, but an oval bowl is the perfect shape.
"It fits comfortably and feels more secure, enhancing the all-round eating experience for the customer and adds a real point of difference for food-to-go businesses.
"Additionally, this new bowl can be served and enjoyed without a guilty conscience because it is made from natural renewable resources and boasts the very highest sustainability credentials."
Available in 620ml and 770ml sizes, the Oval Eco Street Bowl is microwave and oven friendly, as well as freezer-safe and resistant to oil and water up to 120°C.
Earlier this year, the company launched Coalesce pack for retailers to showcase salads, sushi and baked products such as pastries, cakes and pretzels.
As the Coalesce pack's board is produced from wood fibers and the lid from recycled / recyclable materials, it can be easily separated into different recycling waste streams, the company said.
