According to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s shipments of cold rolled (CR) sheets and strips totaled 5.45 million tons in the January-October period, down by 1.12% year on year.
Among them, 50% were made to the domestic market and the remaining 50% was to export markets.
In October, the stocks of CR sheets and strips totaled 648,467 tons, rising by 4.44% from a month but falling by 5.09% year on year. 74% were held by steelmakers and the remaining was owned by traders.
In the January-October period, the domestic prices of CR sheets and strips averaged at 78,200/ton, decreasing by 4,400/ton year on year.
