Demandware Inc. the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, announced that Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, a premier destination for top designer shopping at extraordinary prices, has launched its first e-commerce site, on the Demandware platform.
The new site is a significant milestone in the company's omni-channel strategy, which will also include mobile and tablet commerce and digital integration with stores. Saks OFF 5TH selected Demandware because it provides fast time to market and will easily scale to support growth and ongoing omni-channel commerce initiatives.
Saks Incorporated operates 41 Saks Fifth Avenue stores, 72 Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and saks.com. The newest member of the Saks family, saksoff5th.com, offers men's and women's ready-to-wear, footwear, handbags, accessories, jewelry, watches and beauty products that are typically discounted up to 55 percent off.
"The off-price business is an important part of our overall strategy. With Demandware, we quickly opened up Saks OFF 5TH online, providing customers with new ways to engage and shop with us," said Michael Burgess, President of Saks Direct.
"Now, consumers have the same sophisticated shopping experience online that they are used to in-store. We plan to continually enhance the experience with new features, such as buy online and pick up in store, look online and find in-store, as well as the option to shop through mobile and tablet devices."
The new site features a sleek design and top designer brands—in many cases, only previously available in select stores, such as Saks Fifth Avenue's Salon Z, a plus size women's private label. Online shoppers have access to Saks OFF 5TH loyalty programs, email promotions and in store and online events, as well as a customer care team 24 hours a day. Consumers are able to connect to the retailer through social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
"Saks has a long history as a successful retailer and brand and has built its business around the customer experience," said Jeffrey Barnett, COO at Demandware. "We're delighted that Saks chose Demandware as the foundation for its new Saks OFF 5TH site. As the company continues to evolve its omni-channel strategy, it can rest assured that Demandware will provide the scale and flexibility needed to support its growth initiatives."
Saks OFF 5TH worked with Demandware LINK Solution Partner, SapientNitro, a division of Sapient, for site implementation and services.
