Blue Paper Opens New Fully Automated Warehouse for Paper Rolls in France

Blue Paper has opened a new fully automated high stack warehouse for paper rolls in Strasbourg in France, expanding its storage capacity.

The new building has space to store 12,000 tonnes of paper and is almost double the original storage unit.

Blue Paper said: “Two years after the site opened, it has now been decided to provide additional storage capacity.”

The company will continue to use the original storage unit alongside the new high stack warehouse.

To ensure optimal logistics, the new building has been constructed adjacent to the original storage unit.

Blue Paper said that it has invested €6m to build the new warehouse, which is fully automated.

After the completion of production process, the paper rolls are transported along conveyor belts to the warehouse entrance.

Later, they are stacked on top of each other up to 6 rolls high using vacuum technology. The vacuum gripper will place the rolls in one of the four loading docks for shipping.

Last year, the company invested €5m to install a new steam turbine in Strasbourg.

Blue Paper said: “These sustainable investments – a main objective within VPK’s company vision – combined with the expertise of local teams have resulted in the paper site reaching cruising speed very quickly since it started.”

Its paper machine, which has a width of 8.60m, produces over 1000 tonnes of packaging paper daily.
