The global average price of retrofit 40W LED light bulbs fell 3.9% on month in March, to US$17.10/unit. March global average pricing of retrofit 60W LED light bulbs fell 6.5% on month, to US$24.10/unit, according to market research institute LEDinside.
According to studies done by LEDinside, March prices of retrofit 40W LED light bulbs fell 5.3% and 6.1% on month, respectively, in the UK and Germany, while prices fell 4.5% on month in Japan.
March prices of retrofit 40W LED light bulbs in the US, South Korea, and China fell 5.1%, 1.4%, and 2.3% on month, respectively. The lowest prices appeared in China. Prices of some retrofit 40W LED light bulbs in China were around US$10.80/unit but some fell to US$4.10/unit, said LEDinside. Taiwan saw prices fall 0.4% on month in March.
March prices of retrofit 60W LED light bulbs in Japan showed an on-month decrease of 3.8%, to US$25.80/unit. Prices in the US and South Korea fell 2.9% and 1.4% on month, respectively, added LEDinside. March prices in the UK and Germany fell 11.3% and 6.5% compared to February, respectively.
LEDinside noted that March prices of retrofit 60W LED light bulbs in China fell significantly on month by 15.5%, to US$17.10/unit. The significant fall was due to new products with low prices introduced by domestic brands. March prices of retrofit 60W LED light bulbs in Taiwan fell 6.4% compared to February, to US$13.90/unit.
China-based brands continue to introduce low price LED light bulbs. Firms such as SunSun Lighting introduced 6.5W LED light bulbs with luminous flux of 450 lumens and prices have fallen to US$4.10/unit in March, according to LEDinside.
