Pregis has announced the acquisition of the US-based protective packaging products manufacturer Surface Guard, for an undisclosed value.
According to Pregis, the acquisition will add new protective film, cohesive material as well as single-face corrugated manufacturing capability to its product portfolio.
Pregis president and chief executive officer Kevin Baudhuin said the company aims to strengthen its position, expand its product portfolio and infuse new research and development into its organization.
"We believe that this acquisition will benefit our mutual customers across all segments and channels," Baudhuin said.
Surface Guard's two Aurora facilities will be operated by Pregis and its 79 employees will join 2,000-member worldwide team of Pregis.
The new, combined product portfolio will bring protective packaging solutions to target markets including automotive, fulfillment, building products, appliances, furniture, pharmaceuticals and aerospace.
Through custom-designed, single-face corrugated packaging solutions, the company also hopes to address retail and consumer packaging requirements.
