UK-based RPC Containers Corby has invested in a new Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM) technology, enabling the company to offer its established high barrier PP/EVOH/PP containers with enhanced transparency.

According to the company, this technology helps in opening up opportunities in the retail sector, particularly in markets like cook-in sauces, instant coffee, ready meals, fruits and baby foods, producing packs that deliver high clarity for a premium on-shelf image along with the practical, convenience and safety benefits of plastic.

RPC Containers Corby specialises in manufacturing extrusion blow moulded barrier bottles and wide-necked jars in sizes ranging from 125ml to 4 litres for ambient, long shelf life food and drink products, including ketchups and sauces, juices, soups, fruit, vegetables and baby foods.

A part of the RPC Group, the facility also specialises in the production of containers suitable for high temperature processing and aseptic filling and can offer advice and assistance in the development of complete capping, sealing and processing systems.

The plastic jars to be produced after using the ISBM technology will be substantially lighter and will help retailers and brand owners meet sustainability targets in terms of packaging and carbon emission reductions.

These containers will be suitable for effective pasteurisation and sterilisation as they will be thermally stable to temperatures in excess of 100°C.

RPC Corby will incorporate its effective EVOH oxygen barrier for long ambient shelf life with the help of its new manufacturing process.

Caps for these new containers will be delivered by RPC Halstead.
