Redispersible Polymer Range Was Expanded by Ashland

Tags: Ashland, Polymer

Ashland Inc. has expanded its family of Aquapas RDP to include Aquapas M Series RDP, Aquapas T Series RDP, Aquapas HS-2098 RDP and Styrene-Acrylic based Aquapas N7930 and Aquapas N7970 RDPs.

In 2011, Ashland Inc. launched its Aquapas redispersible polymer powders (RDP) to be used along with Culminal and Combizell cellulose ethers, and Ashland Aquatherm specialty water-soluble polymers to offer enhanced adhesion, performance and flexibility in dry mortars formulations.

Ashland’s RDP powders are used in a variety of cement-based construction applications, such as cementitious tile adhesives, external insulation and finishing systems (EIFS), renders and stuccos, external and internal skimcoat, and repair mortar.

“This is another example of Ashland ingenuity,” said Sandeep Rath, global marketing manager for Ashland Specialty Ingredients. “When combined with our line of cellulose-ether products, Aquapas RDP increases the overall effectiveness of dry mortars, reducing costs and improving the final quality of construction projects.”

Aquapas M Series RDP for Self-Leveling Compounds

This series of RDPs is designed for formulators of self-leveling compounds (SLCs) who have not been able to achieve superior stabilization with traditional stabilizers. When added at efficient dosages, Aquapas M Series RDPs provide self-leveling compounds with excellent stabilization, abrasion resistance, tensile and comprehensive strength, reduced cracking and superior adhesion to substrates, while reducing bleeding and eliminating the need for low-dosage stabilizers.

Aquapas T Series RDP for Cementitious Tile Adhesives

Introduced in China, this series of redispersible polymer powders is designed to enable customers to formulate sag-resistant cement-based tile adhesives (CTAs) with improved visual open time and good workability, eliminating the need for additional thickeners such as starch ethers.

Aquapas HS 2098 RDP for EIFS

This redispersible polymer powder has been introduced in China specifically to enhance the performance of EIFS mortar, providing high tensile strength, superior adhesion to substrates and greater durability under varied weather conditions.

Aquapas N7930 and N7970 Styrene-Acrylic Based RDPs

These two RDP products provide benefits such as water resistance, thermal resistance, high adhesion, abrasion resistance, workability and flexibility to tile adhesives and self-leveling compounds in wet area applications, such as bathrooms, swimming pools, terraces, balconies, and other exterior or interior usage.

Ashland offers a broad portfolio of cellulose ethers and RDPs, along with other additives such as starch ethers, defoamers, air-entraining agents, acrylates and biocides as complete solutions for premium construction application needs.
