The fine wine market will grow 22% by Christmas 2014, according to Premier Cru Fine Wine Investments.

The Fine Wine market has experienced 15% growth since November 2012

The investment company estimated the market had experienced 15% growth since November 2012 and predicted further growth of 10% by December 2013.

This reflects a boost in industry confidence buoyed by large wine merchants beginning to hold more stock, readiness of investors to buy stock and a more mature and growing Chinese market.

‘Considerable opportunity’

Stacey Golding, co-founder of Premier Cru, said: “Although we continue to see the prices of our most desired investment wines rise, there is a considerable opportunity for investors to profit in an ideal medium to longer term period.

“With the current economic unrest in Cyprus investors are awakened to the fact that money is no longer 'safe as houses' or 'in the bank'. We are therefore predicting an increase of 10% to December and see the market growing by 22% by Christmas 2014."

Premier Cru said the market revival followed the sector’s worst ever crash in October 2012.
