DOC Has Started an Anti-Dumping Investigation of China- and Taiwan-Based Solar Players

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has started an anti-dumping investigation of China- and Taiwan-based solar players and is expected to announce preliminary anti-dumping tariffs in June. Taiwan-based solar cell makers can tolerate tariffs up to 15% before seeing a negative impact on exports to the US, Taiwan government officials cited Motech Industries as estimating.

Among Taiwan-based solar cell makers, Motech has the largest share of Taiwan-produced solar cells exported to the US market and therefore is likely to represent Taiwan makers as a respondent in the DOC investigation.
