Murata Electronics North America Inc (a subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd of Kyoto, Japan) and Peregrine Semiconductor Corp of San Diego, CA, USA have celebrated the closing of Murata’s acquisition of Peregrine.
To commemorate its next chapter as Peregrine Semiconductor (a Murata company), Peregrine has hosted an opening ceremony attended by Norio Nakajima (executive VP, director of Murata’s Communication business unit), David Kirk (CEO of Murata North Americas) and Jim Cable (Peregrine's president & CEO), who gave presentations highlighting the synergies between the two firms.

Peregrine is a fabless provider of radio-frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) and RF front-end (RFFE) solutions based on the UltraCMOS technology platform, a patented form of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) that delivers the monolithic integration and performance needed to solve RF challenges (such as linearity) for mobile and analog applications. Since 1988, Peregrine has shipped over 2 billion UltraCMOS units. The firm will continue to market its integrated RF solutions under the Peregrine brand, as a subsidiary of Murata Electronics North America Inc, for markets such as communications (mobile, wireless infrastructure, land mobile radio, broadband and wireless), industrial (test & measurement, automotive, Internet of Things) and aerospace. With the close of the acquisition in mid-December, Murata gains Peregrine’s intellectual property portfolio, which contains over 180 filed and pending patents.
