AHMSA Will Provide Steel for The New International Airport

Mexican steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) will provide steel for the new international airport planned for Mexico City, reported the Director General of the steel, Luis Zamudio Miechielsen.

The construction of the new terminal on the east of the Mexican capital, on an area of 12,500 hectares, will apply an investment of 120 billion pesos (US$9.2 billion).

President Enrique Pe?a Nieto and the Secretary? of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarrealhave a policy of using local steel content for such projects. Miechielsen said that at the momento, the company is working on a new special steel plate to be used in the project.

"We hope to complete this project by 2015 and take steps to rebound when the market does, which we hope will be the last quarter of the year," he said.
