China's Crude Stainless Steel Production in 2012 Rises by 14% Year on Year

According to statistics released by the Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (SSC), China’s crude stainless steel production amounted to 16.1 million tons in 2012, rising by 14% year on year. In 2012, the country’s stainless exports totaled 2.1 million tons, falling by 8% and its imports amounted to 772,000 tons, decreasing by 14%, both compared to the figures in a year ago. Meanwhile, the apparent consumption of stainless steel in China totaled 12.9 million tons in 2012, up by 16% from a year ago.
