The Denver Art Museum is currently showing an exhibition of large-scale,site-specific ceramic installations-including a work comprised of suspended clay forms, the largest weighing 300 lbs.,and a 23-foot ceramic chandelier.
The exhibition features works by 25 contemporary artists including Linda Sormin,Neil Forrest,Jeanne Quinn, and Anders Ruhwald,Kim Dickey, and Martha Russo.
Working in all scales, from architecturally expansive to almost impossibly small, the artists in Overthrown employ twenty-first-century technology hand-in-hand with standard modeling and molding techniques. They use digital cameras, computers, laser cutters,3-D printers, and computer-controlled mills along with more traditional tools.
