Tags: Health, Medicine

Royal Philips Electronics has launched new Epiq premium ultrasound system designed to visualize deeper levels of anatomical detail and contrast resolution on patients of all types.

Epiq, the new ultrasound system which features nSIGHT technology and Anatomical Intelligence, has recently received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market in the US.

The Epiq system will efficiently produce more definitive clinical information using Anatomical Intelligence, a rich data base of anatomic structural models and adaptive system technology.

This database provides advanced organ modeling and image slicing and helps physicians to quickly and more confidently identify anatomy and anomalies, assess disease states, determine treatment, and guide interventions.

This intelligent technology coupled with the precision clarity of nSIGHT Imaging provides for a faster and more intuitive ultrasound system.

xMATRIX 3DTEE and the Anatomically Intelligent Mitral Valve Navigator A.I. provide a key Live 3D planning solution which allows physicians to make more informed decisions before and during heart valve procedures.

Philips Healthcare CEO Healthcare Imaging Systems Gene Saragnese noted Philips is at the forefront of imaging technology innovation, and with EPIQ, it is pioneering a way to address significant imaging issues faced by medical professionals in the clinical setting.

"The combination of Anatomical Intelligence and the use of nSIGHT imaging technology is a major milestone in the history of ultrasound technology," Saragnese added.

The numerous design elements make Epiq easier to operate including the standby battery, easy to connect transducers, and portability.

This Epiq ultrasound system supports segment specific innovations for cardiology, radiology, OB/GYN and general imaging.

The company is currently showcasing Epiq premium ultrasound system at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2013 Congress in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
