Earthcycle Will Introduce Its Enhanced, Compostable Water-Resistant Packaging

Sustainable packaging company in Canada Earthcycle will introduce its enhanced, compostable water-resistant packaging that can be used for high-moisture produce, especially mushrooms.

Earthcycle founder and president Shannon Boase said the new formula developed helps to maintain the strength and integrity of its packaging under high moisture environments for longer.

"We set out to develop a packaging formula that works especially well with mushrooms, which are one of the most challenging produce items at any store because of the high water content," Boase said.

The compostable packaging is produced by the company by converting fiber into pulp, which is used to form any packaging shape or size using standard vacuum-thermoforming tools.

The new water-resistant packaging from Earthcycle will also be used to package additional fresh produce items such as avocados, tomatoes, asparagus, peppers, broccoli, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. It is available across the company's entire product line.
