Elopak Developed The Pure-Pak Sense Carton to Help Combat Food Waste

Norwegian carton producer Elopak has developed the Pure-Pak sense carton that has been designed to help combat food waste.

The easy-to-fold carton line claims to enable users to fold the carton and squeeze out more of the product from the pack which is ideal for high viscosity products.

It also helps in reducing volume in waste or recycling facilities as it allows for convenient flattening of the empty carton.

The carton comes with an arched top fin along with a print option to provide a tool for improved range navigation and enhanced communication of promotional messages.

The carton's rounded smooth front helps in providing a seamless print area and a new form and shape. It also has an embossed 'first touch' zone on the top sides of the pack which lends it a different look and feel and also offers better handling.

The company has developed these cost-effective cartons that provide flexible options on existing filling lines with a minimal investment in a retrofit kit.

Products can be filled in one litre Pure-Pak Sense cartons with a 500ml carton size which would be available from early 2015.

Elopak director global marketing Christoph Schnig said: "Today a carton has to be more than just a generic package for liquid food. Packaging is an important element of the marketing mix for our customers and as such it must enable business growth. Therefore, Elopak's goal is to consistently improve its packaging solutions to meet current needs in terms of appearance and functionality, as well as cost and flexibility."
