India has become a net exporter of steel during the April-December period, according to Joint Plant Committee (JPC), a unit of Steel Ministry.
India’s steel imports dropped by 29.2% to 4.1 million tons during the April-December period, but exports soared by 9.5% to 4.14 million tons.
The main reasons are coming from a result of rupee volatility, weak domestic demand and increasing output from mills at home.
India has been a net importer of steel since 2007-2008.
