A Supply Agreement Has Also Been Signed by Both The Companies for Pha Biopolymers

Bioscience company Metabolix has announced a distribution agreement with the Tianjin GreenBio Materials in China.

According to the agreement terms, GreenBio's SoGreen heat shrink film will be distributed by Metabolix in Europe, which will also be the exclusive distributor in the Americas.

A supply agreement has also been signed by both the companies for PHA biopolymers, under which GreenBio will supply PHA resins to Metabolix.

Metabolix business and commercial development, biopolymers vice president Bob Engle said Tianjin has developed a heat shrink film based on PHA biopolymers, which complements the company's product slate and would be of interest to customers in the US and Europe who seek biobased materials and biodegradable performance.

"With products and technology that are complementary, the distribution and PHA supply agreements mark a first step toward potentially working with Tianjin to develop additional PHA biopolymer products," said Engle.

Two grades of heat shrink film are offered by Tianjin GreenBio. SoGreen is designed to replace non-compostable PVC film used to package boxed goods, software and other non-edible products, and the other to replace softer polyethylene films.
