Bayer AG CEO Marijn Dekkers said Thursday’s announcement it will separate its MaterialScience business won’t have an immediate impact on local operations at one of the Pittsburgh region’s biggest employers.
Bayer MaterialScience’s North American headquarters is in the Pittsburgh region and it has LifeSciences employees as well. Dekkers told the Pittsburgh Business Times there weren’t final plans for every location.
"What I can say is that Pittsburgh is an important location for BMS [Bayer MaterialScience],” Dekkers said. “The headquarters for BMS in North America is obviously located in Pittsburgh and we have a significant presence … There’s no reason to assume BMS would not continue its activities with its scope to support North American market from the U.S. in Pittsburgh.”
