The Development of Manufacturing Facility Will Be Carried Out by Custom Food Products

Custom Food Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of CTI Foods, is set to expand its facility in Owingsville, Kentucky, with an investment of $44m, a move which will create 200 new jobs.

Custom Foods manufactures processed beef, pork, chicken, turkey, soups, sauces and tacos for packaged food manufacturers and foodservice outlets in North and Central America.

The Owingsville plant currently employs an approximate 150 people. The expansion will allow the company to expand its services to the East Coast market.

Kentucky governor Beshear said: "Custom Foods has been a valuable member of the Bath County community since 1994, and we're excited to see the company grow and succeed in the Commonwealth."

CTI Foods president and CEO Bobby Horowitz said that the company has been seeking to expand its Central and East Coast manufacturing presence for several years.

"With the acquisition of Custom Food Products last year, our way to the future became clear."

"As part of our investigation prior to purchasing Custom Food Products, we spent significant time in Owingsville and were very impressed with the attitude, skills and desire of current associates to make the business successful," Horowitz added.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) has approved tax incentives of up to $3m for the project, through the Kentucky Business Investment program.

CTI Foods operates seven manufacturing facilities across the US in Pennsylvania, Texas, Idaho and California, employing about 2,000 people.
