Warn of Demand-Supply Gap Is Suppliered by Caustic Soda

Caustic Soda suppliers have warned of a potential demand-supply gap in the upcoming months due to traditional plant shutdowns in the fourth quarter.

Prices can also witness a surge in the European market if suppliers succeed in their plans to increase prices for October deliveries. However market experts feel that weak demand for by-products and problems in exporting the product would help maintain status quo.

In the week ending October 6, Caustic soda prices were steady in China as there were no price movements, mainly due to the week-long holidays.

In western India, prices of Caustic Soda declined slightly due to sluggish downstream demand and ample product availability in the market in the same week.

In Europe, spot prices of Caustic soda remained stable. Prices are likely to be increased by the producers in the near term. Market sources reported tough talks on Caustic soda prices in the region.
