Chinese dairy giant Mengniu has admitted the existence of safety irregularities at the plant of its ice cream supplier Tianfu Dairy,in response to a safety report which was posted online.
Recently,a student from Xi'an university had posted an internship report online,which revealed the unhygienic conditions at Tianfu Dairy,an ice cream supplier in Inner Mongolia.The report led to a public concern over the safety of Mengniu products.
In response,Mengniu noted that it will request Tianfu to correct the irregularities and improve its conditions within 48 hours.In addition,the company said that it will launch a nationwide inspection of all of its ice cream processing suppliers.
Mengniu,which has been affected by several safety scandals,recently entered into a partnership with Swedish-Danish dairy co-operative Arla Foods.Under the agreement,Arla will buy 6%stake in Mengniu,and will also offer expertise on milk quality,traceability and controlled milk production on farms.
