ThermoFlexX, a digital platemaking systems brand owned by Xeikon, is to present its new ThermoFlexX 48 digital plate imager at Labelexpo Europe this year.
The new digital plate imager that comes with a maximum plate size of 900 x 1,200 mm can provide imaging speeds of 6 and 3.5 square meters an hour.
The resolution of the images ranges from 2,400 dpi to 5,080 dpi. The imager also allows the production of halftone screens of 250 lpi which are suitable for intricate, high quality work, the company said.
ThermoFlexX and basysPrint sales and marketing director Christophe Lievens said: "During use the operator loads a plate into the FlexTray unit, which is a fixed part of the new ThermoFlexX 48. The imager then feeds the plate automatically into the drum and begins imaging.
"While this is happening, the next plate can be fed into the FlexTray unit by the operator. Once imaging is completed, the plate is fed automatically into an external on-line back-and-top exposure unit, which utilises LED technology to ensure fast and consistent results.
"It's an extremely efficient method of producing digital flexo plates, ready for press, and we're very excited at the interest we've already received."
The ease of switching between outputs enable the production of images with different resolutions on the same plate, thereby allowing the customers to cut down on material costs and time.
ThermoFlexX has already received its first supply order for ThermoFlexX 48, which will be shipped to a Russian printer at the end of October.
Additionally, the company will launch a new database driven software ThermoFlexX MultiPlate for its latest flexo imagers at Labelexpo.
In March this year, Miller Graphics installed a ThermoFlexX 80-S imager at its new factory in Bejaia, Algeria.
