Mexico's Apparent Domestic Consumption of Liquid Steel Decrease by 8.8%

Mexico’s apparent domestic consumption of liquid steel amounted to 9.12 million tons in the first five months of this year, decreasing by 8.8% year on year, according to data released by the National Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO).

In the given period of time, the country’s apparent domestic consumption of steel flat products totaled 4.29 million tons, falling by 9.3%; that of steel long products was at 2.94 million tons, decreasing by 4.7%, both compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.

Besides, the country’s crude steel output totaled 7.48 million tons in January-May, down by 0.4% year on year.
