Perrigo has commenced the shipment of Guaifenesin 600mg extended-release drug to its retail and wholesale customers in the process of its launch.
Guaifenesin 600mg is a generic version of Mucinex 600mg extended release tablet, which relieves chest congestion and makes coughs more productive.
Perrigo chairman and CEO Joseph Papa said, "Perrigo's achievement represents the first store brand equivalent to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and marketed to consumers as a high quality store brand product that will represent considerable savings when compared to the national brand."
Guaifenesin 600mg tablets will be marketed with a high quality and value, as a choice to Mucinex 600mg tablets, according to the company.
Mucinex 600mg extended release tablets have about $135m sales through food, drug and mass merchandisers for the last 12 months.
US-based Perrigo manufactures and distributes over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals and infant formulas, nutritional products, pet health, dietary supplements and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
