According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first five months of this year Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) exports amounted to 57,686 mt, decreasing by 42.7 percent, while the revenue from these exports totaled $57.22 million, down 46.03 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Turkey's PPGI exports had totaled 202,109 metric tons in 2013.
In May this year, Turkey's PPGI exports decreased by 29.36 percent year on year to 16,578 metric tons, but were up 11.27 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $14.64 million, down 40.57 percent year on year and declining by 0.39 percent month on month.
With imports of 6,953 mt of PPGI from Turkey in May and 15,437 mt in the first five months of the year, Russia was Turkey's leading PPGI export destination in the given periods, ahead of Azerbaijan. In the January-May period, Azerbaijan's PPGI imports from Turkey decreased by 30.16 percent to 6,271 mt, while Romania received 5,134 mt of PPGI from Turkey, down 36.63 percent year on year.
