PET to PET recycling Austria has invested about 2.3m on the upgrade of its Austrian plant based in Müllendorf to meet the increasing processing demand.
A bottle-to-bottle PET recycling operation, the company is backed by Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling and a few other beverage manufacturers. Set up in 2007, it is a joint venture between Austrian beverage companies Radlberger Getrnke & Co; S. Spitz; Rauch Fruchtsfte & Co. and Vslauer Mineralwasser, along with Coca-Cola HBC Austria.
The firm started expanding its facility last year, with a processing hall already been constructed. It has also installed a new storage silo system comprising 12 individual silos and worked on improving the process flow, allowing the delivery of recyclates in special storage vehicles to customers.
PET to PET managing director Christian Strasser was quoted by the European Plastics News as saying: "With the current expansion, we have now invested strongly in improving the infrastructure of systems and the optimization of logistic processes."
With the coordination of truck deliveries and stock transfers, the company has also centralised its operations. According to PET to PET, these changes will increase the efficiency of the site's operations, making it sustainable and also help in saving both time and transport fuel.
The firm uses bottle waste to create quality food grade PET flakes and PET granules for moulding PET bottle preforms.
