HP Unveils New Indigo 8000 Digital Press for Converters and Brands

US technology firm HP has unveiled new digital narrow web press, Indigo 8000 digital press, for converters and brands.

The company has also upgraded Indigo 20000 and 30000 digital presses and launched new ink and substrate options.

HP Indigo division general manager Alon Bar Shany said: "Leading brands are increasingly leveraging HP Indigo labels and packaging solutions to engage with consumers in targeted, meaningful and measurable ways.

HP Indigo 8000 digital press provides high-volume converters end-to-end label production at doubled speeds up to 80m per minute or 262 ft per minute.

The press will work in-line or off-line with an ABG Fast Track semi-rotary die cut unit, as well as uses AVT inspection technology to provide an effective all-digital workflow and real-time quality assurance.

HP Indigo 8000, WS6800 and 20000 digital presses support HP Indigo ElectroInk Premium White, a new ink that enables converters deliver a wider range of opacity levels.

The digital presses also feature a new color automation package, which perfects color accuracy, consistency and repeatability.

HP Indigo 20000 digital press includes an upgraded package that is compatible with new substrates such as polyethylene and stretchable materials.

This feature supports in a wider range of high-volume flexible packaging and shrink sleeve, as well as in-mold and pressure-sensitive label applications, including lids and laminated tubes.

HP Indigo 30000 digital press upgrade package is claimed to increase productivity up to 30% and enables dozens of folding carton jobs per day.

It enables high-margin opportunities with synthetic media, as well as metallized boards, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate materials. The press also features enhanced security features such as micro text and barcodes.

The company will exhibit the new solutions at the drupa 2016 in Düsseldorf, Germany, which will be held from 31 May to 10 June.
