Rexam Has Launched Its First Sustainability Report Recognized by The GRI

Rexam, a global consumer packaging company, has launched its first Sustainability Report, which has also been recognized by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Rexam chief executive Graham Chipchase said the firm has an important role to play in the packaging supply chain and their sustainability measures are poised to support customers.

The firm underlined several key events in the 20-year period that include substantial carbon-dixide savings in 2011and an improvement in Lost Time Accident Rates, with a recycle proportion of 70% of about 60bn cans to be produced in 2012.

A PwC report recently released about sustainable packaging underlines collaboration across the supply chain reduces product waste and the environmental effects.

Rexam sustainibility director John Revess said firms must essentially contribute in sustainability measures according to the Rio+20 discussions.

"With 60 billion cans produced globally annually, Rexam places great importance on sustainability and it is superb recognition that our report has been awarded a level A GRI rating. From eco-design to safety and employee engagement, we work tirelessly to engrain sustainability in our business culture and achieve the stretching targets we have set ourselves." added Revess.
