Shrinking demand on the Spanish sales market has recently led to more price cuts for Scandinavian softwood lumber there. From what market insiders say, demand in Spain has subsided more strongly by the end of November than otherwise usual at this time of the year. Besides the low building activity, which has been ailing for several years now, seasonal variations are increasingly having an adverse effect on sales. Buyers typically order as needs dictate at the moment; Longer-term contracts are practically a thing of the past. Hardly any deals have thus been inked for January 2012 to date.
