Linde North Launched The New Packaging Solution

Linde North America, a member of The Linde Group has launched the new MAPAX modified atmosphere packaging solution that can extend the shelf life of consumer packaged foods.

MAPAX uses a combination of gases including food-grade nitrogen, carbon dioxide (CO2), and/or oxygen that keep sealed products fresh longer when stored under appropriate conditions, helping to cut down returns due to spoilage.

The gases can be metered for inerting and preservation of bagged, trayed, canned and bottled products from potato chips to nuts.

According to the company, the shelf life of cakes can be extended to up to one year, pizza from 7-10 days to 2-4 weeks, and raw red meat from 2-4 days to 5-8 days, with MAPAX.

The packaging solution comprises on-site gas supply and delivery as well as metering and control systems that are matched to the existing food packaging system of a plant.
