A Greater Manchester Manufacturer Has Closed Down with The Loss of Nearly 60 Jobs

A Greater Manchester manufacturer which has been operating for more than four decades has closed down with the loss of nearly 60 jobs.

HW Glass was founded in 1972 as a small business and has since developed into a £9m-turnover manufacturer and processor of safety glass and double glazed units.

It served the retail and commercial markets from a 60,000 sq ft head office on Martland Park, in Wigan.

Tracey Pye and Martha Thompson, from the Manchester office of business restructuring specialist BDO, were joint administrators of HW Glass earlier this month.
