Wileyfox Unveils Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus Budget Handsets to Rival Moto G

British smartphone manufacturer Wileyfox has just unveiled its latest flagship handset, the Swift 2 – and on paper at least, it's going straight after the Moto G.

We quite liked the Swift when it launched late last year, but there have been a whole heap of improvements this time around and it looks to be an even better budget smartphone.

Obviously price is still key here, and with an RRP of £159 (there's a slightly beefed up version for £189), it's good to see a few more flagship-style features making their way onto the upgraded Swift.

On the back, there's a new 16-megapixel camera made by Samsung if you plump for the Plus model, while the regular Swift has a 12-megapixel primary camera. Both variants sport 8-megapixel front shooters for all your 'selfie' needs.

Running the show is Snapdragon's 430, backed up by either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and you'll also be able to choose between 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

The operating system seems to be a bit of an issue here, though, with the Swift 2 and 2 Plus shipping with a Cyanogen-skinned version of Android Marshmallow.

Why are we slightly concerned? Well, Cyanogen seems to be getting out of the software game, so we were left a bit confused as to why Wileyfox's reps were so bullish about the new duo's software prospects going forward – we were promised an update to Android 7.0 Nougat, no less.

Both phones have 5-inch 720p displays, NFC, a fingerprint scanner for Android Pay, and a USB-C charging port that supports Qualcomm's new-gen Quick Charge 3.0 standard.

You can order the Swift 2 and Swift 2 Plus SIM-free in a range of colours on Amazon immediately. The Swift 2 is expected to start landing tomorrow, while the Swift 2 Plus will be released on November 14.
