HERE are many ways to promote "greening". Recycling glass containers is one of them. It is simple but not "successful" at present.
The demand for glass containers has diminished; replaced by plastic and tetra-pack containers as well as aluminium cans!
Many food manufacturers no longer use and recycle glass containers, perhaps due to high costs. The economy of scale for recycling glass containers could be achieved through centralisation and standardisation.
First, reduce the countless designs of glass containers and standardise them. Next, collect the glass containers, sort and clean centrally before recycling back to the food manufacturers. The concept is simple but the challenge is enormous. I hope the government can kickstart this project in line with the objective of "greening" initiatives. This is truly recycling per se!
