OptiGroup has acquired businesses in Romania and Finland to expand its operations of the industrial and safety solutions segment.
Proxima Tapes and Proxima Comserv provide industrial packaging sales and services to the customers in the North Western region of Romania.
The acquired businesses will support OptiGroup's existing packaging business in Romania.
OptiGroup has also agreed to acquire Finland-based full service packaging distributors Mercamer and Telpak.
Both firms provide a range of industrial packaging products, services and equipment to the customers.
Subject to approval by the Finnish Competition Authority, the transactions are expected to complete in February.
OptiGroup said the acquisitions would represent its first entry into the industrial packaging market in Finland and compliment the existing operations in the Nordic region.
The acquired businesses are said to add around €50m in sales for OptiGroup’s industrial and safety solutions business segment.
OptiGroup chairman and CEO Christoph Sander said: "This is an important development for OptiGroup, and reinforces our ambition to expand our Industrial & Safety Solutions business segment, both organically and through acquisitions.
“By adding these businesses to our existing Industrial & Safety Solutions businesses in the Nordics and other countries, we will see a significant increase of our size in this growing and attractive business segment."
OptiGroup provides facility and foodservice solutions, industrial and safety solutions, printing and creative solutions and retail and reseller Solutions to the European customers.
With net sales of €1.5bn in 2016, the group employs 2,100 employees and supports over90,000 customers in 19 countries across Europe.
