Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Bookings Reached $6.71bn During The Quarter

Worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings reached $6.71bn during the quarter

The global semiconductor equipment billings have reached $9.06bn during the third quarter of 2012 (3Q12) declining 12% from last quarter and 15% over the same corresponding quarter in 2011, according to a new report from SEMI.

During the quarter, worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were $6.71bn, representing 12% drop from the same quarter a year ago and 31% decline over the bookings figure for the earlier quarter.

Taiwan reported the highest rise of 58% in billings, while North America, Korea, China, Europe, Japan reported respective declines of about 7%, 13%, 20%, 31% and 51% during the quarter when compared to same quarter in 2011.

During second quarter, global billings for semiconductor manufacturing equipments reached $10.34bn, recording a 2% decline when compared to the 1Q of 2012 and 13% lower over the same quarter in 2011.

The report is based on the data gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 100 equipment companies.
