FSA Is Inviting Applications To Conduct An Evaluation Of Accredited Food Assurance Schemes

The Food Standards Agency(FSA)is inviting applications to conduct an evaluation of accredited food assurance schemes.

The research will evaluate the extent to which the schemes demonstrate compliance with EU food safety requirements, specifically those relating to imported food.

It will also explore the results of an FSA-led pilot scheme, which assessed compliance performance between consignments of fresh, perishable fruits and vegetables that were accompanied by certification issued by independently accredited assurance scheme bodies, and those that were not accompanied by such certification.

The researchers will then recommend how a new pilot scheme could be introduced.FSA noted that the applications should be submitted online using its electronic procurement system by 18 October 2012.
