Lite-On Technology Has Announced Net Profits of NT$1.35 Billion

Lite-On Technology has announced net profits of NT$1.35 billion (US$45.72 million) or NT$0.60 per share for the first quarter of 2012. The company also plans to hand out dividends of NT$2.32 for 2011, including NT$2.27 in cash and NT$0.05 in shares. Although revenues for the first quarter of 2012 slid 5.7% sequentially to NT$27.41 billion, gross margin for the quarter reached 12.7%, an increase of 1.6pp from a year earlier, buoyed by a rebound of its LED production capacity in Thailand, the company noted. Shipments of high-end camera modules for smartphones and notebooks grew more than 30% on year in the first quarter, further pushing up the company's global market share in the segment. With its order visibility extending to one and a half months, the company expects its performance to continue to strengthen in the second quarter. Shipments of camera modules for traditional notebooks will speed up in the second quarter, while the launch of new ultrabooks will help boost demand for new camera modules in the second half of the year, said the company, adding that demand for power supply products and keyboard from the PC sector will also be strong in the second half.
