US-based nutritional supplement production company Country Life has recalled about 1,100 units of Target-Mins 25mg iron supplement bottles due to lack of child-resistant packaging.
As required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, the packaging is not child-resistant. The tablets in the bottle contain iron and if multiple tablets are ingested at a time, it can cause serious injury or even death to young children.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the bottle is brown with a black top and has a white label with a yellow banner at the top and a green banner provided at the bottom.
The label features words such as 'IRON, 'Country Life' and '90 tablets printed on it, and bar code 015794024927 and lot number 13A866B are printed on the far left side of the front label.
Consumers are immediately required to place recalled bottles out of the reach of children and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or a replacement bottle.
The bottles were sold at New Seasons, Sprouts Farmers Market, Vitamin Cottage, Whole Foods Market and other natural food stores across the US from January 2013 to May 2013.
