Ashok Leyland Defence Systems has unveiled a new Armoured Troop Carrier (ATC), STALLION 'Kavach', at the IFSEC & Homeland Security India Exhibition at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, New Delhi.
The new vehicle is designed with protection levels of NIJ Level III for the crew compartment and two HE grenades under the floor to protect movement of troops and police forces during counter insurgency operations.
STALLION 'Kavach' will be powered by by a 135kW engine, include a seating capacity of at least 12 personnel, including the driver and come configured as a 4x4 all-wheel drive.
In addition, the new ATC a solid blast protection body that protects troops against a blast of 5 kg of explosives from a distance of 30 meters.
The new vehicle comes equipped with 12 self-locking gun ports, a 360 degree rotatable turret with view port and gun mount, one rear roof hatch for emergency exit and lighting and communication systems.
Built on the STALLION platform, the new ATC can be modified in to a Command Post, Communication Vehicle, an Ambulance or even a Bomb Disposal vehicle.
