Ford has begun the production of new Transit Custom and the 8-9 seated Tourneo Custom vans at Ford Otosan's Kocaeli facility in Turkey.
According to the carmaker, both models are powered by 100PS, 125PS or 155PS versions of the new 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel engine, which offers a fuel consumption rate of 6.5 l/100km for Tourneo Custom and 6.6 l/100 km for Transit Custom.
Ford of Europe chairman and CEO Stephen Odell said, "The Transit Custom is a completely new kind of one-tonne vehicle from Ford."
Ford said that the new Transit Custom variant is positioned between the company's smaller Transit Connect and the larger Transit van and both the models will be on sale during late 2012.
