The Yield of US Weekly Raw Steel Increases by 0.9 Percent

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose 0.9 percent in the week ending August 3, following a 1.7 percent drop a week ago.

Total raw steel production in the United States was 1,888,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.9 percent increase from the 1,871,000 nt produced in the previous week and 1.8 percent higher than the 1,855,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 78.8 percent in the week ending August 3, compared to 78.1 percent in the previous week and 74.6 percent in the same week of last year.
