T.H. Chen, president of China Steel Structure Co. expected the output value of Taiwanese steel structure industry would remain flat at about NT$40 billion in this year due to lower demand from Taiwanese panel plant and popular construction projects.
He added that the actual annual demand for steel structure in Taiwan domestic market is only about 800,000 to 1 million tons while the current supply in the market is about 2 million tons.
The oversupply situation caused Taiwanese steel structure suppliers have to bargain with its buyers.
For the prospect, T.H. Chen said the Taiwanese steel structure industry's output value might improve in 2013 once Taiwanese government releases more popular construction projects.
