Praktiker a Re-Opened Its DIY Superstore as a Pilot Business Location

Tags: Praktiker

On 2 May Praktiker A re-opened its DIY superstore in Neumünster, Germany, as a pilot business location. The future concept of the Praktiker sales channel involves a renewed change in strategy, which CEO Armin Burger explained at a press conference in Hamburg. The current executive board is adhering to the policy of converting numerous Praktiker business sites to the Max Bahr sales channel, which will therefore become the main sales channel. However, at the same time, the Praktiker format is to be changed in a way similar to that originally envisaged at the beginning of 2011, but not properly implemented, and take the form of an Easy to Shop“ concept. Praktiker is to be positioned as a simple shop for classic DIY products with maximum sales space of 5,000 m2. The range on offer will be reduced from an average of 40,000 to 20,000 articles. In the pilot store, items deleted from the list include kitchens, furniture, floor coverings and curtains. In addition, the number of articles per application area has been reduced.
