Dow Agrosciences LLC and Arcadia Biosciences, Inc. are teaming up to bring new yield traits and trait stacks in corn.
This collaboration will use Arcadia’s abiotic stress traits and Dow’s technology platforms, input traits, regulatory capabilities, and commercial channels to develop and commercialize new corn yield traits, such as nutrient and water use efficiencies.
“Dow’s experience in the corn market, coupled with its rich pipeline of insect-resistance and herbicide-tolerant traits, are a perfect complement to Arcadia’s yield and stress-tolerant traits,” said Eric Rey, president and CEO of Arcadia Biosciences.
Several of the traits being developed have already gone through advanced field trials conducted by Dow. With the company’s input traits, the trait stacks should be highly competitive and help farmers be more efficient and revenue-focused.
“This collaboration reflects the unique nature of Arcadia’s business model, expanding our access to new technologies in new markets with an established leader in agriculture,” said Rey. “Together, we can accelerate the development of robust trait stacks that deliver significant added value to growers.”
The new duo will also take advantage of Dow Agrosciences’ EXZACT Precision Technology Platform to speed up and enhance the development of trait stacks. Development costs will be co-funded, while the commercial value of the resulting corn traits will be shared by the two entities.
