New Stained Glass Windows Took Place at Muirhead Church

A service for the dedication of new stained glass windows took place at Muirhead Church.

The windows have been installed after a year of intensive and enthusiastic fundraising by members of the church and local community.

The completion of the project coincides with the 170th anniversary of the Muirhead Church building, originally constructed from stones provided and transported by local farmers in 1843.

It was built as a Free Church in a plain style and the new side windows reflect the simplicity of the original design.

The two north facing windows, however, depict the “Tree of Life” as described in the Book of Revelation but the fruits, flowers and wildlife that are included reflect those found in the local area.

The windows have been designed and assembled by Artisan Stained Glass of Bankfoot. This year is also the 60th anniversary of the union of Lundie and Muirhead churches, now also linked with Fowlis and Liff Church.

The Rev Donna Hays, minister of the linked charge, said: “This project has been a massive undertaking for a relatively small church but the result is wonderful.

“Not only has the church building had an amazing face lift but so many people have been involved in different aspects of the project and they have had the joy of working together as well as succeeding in creating a wonderful legacy which will be enjoyed by, and hopefully inspirational for, both the present and future generations.”

There will also be an opportunity for people to see the windows during the annual garden fete next Saturday afternoon.
