The Slightly Growing Demand for Beech Lumber Has Spread to Other Assortments

The slightly growing demand for beech lumber since the beginning of the year has spread to other assortments and sales markets in the course of the last few weeks. An increasing number of sawmills has been using this as an argument for price increases. After a sluggish start to the year, beech sawmills have been able to step up their business activity with lumber assortments to German timber merchants in recent weeks. There have been more drop-shipping orders as well as stock-replenishment purchases. The requirement of white lumber has increased at the expense of steamed lumber in the German and Polish furniture industry as well as on a number of Asian markets, which small and medium-sized sawmills are profiting from by virtue of the greater diversity they offer. The assortments that were already in demand by the furniture industry at the start of the year, such as frame products and cut-sizes, have stabilised at a higher level than last year.
