November was a record-breaking month for a number of brands in Australia, with Renault, Subaru and Fiat Chrysler all posting best-ever sales.
Released yesterday, the November sales figures reveal Renault enjoyed its biggest single month of deliveries ever with 875 vehicles sold, taking the French manufacturer’s year to-date total to 6247, representing an increase of 40 per cent over 2012.
The Renault Megane was the brand’s top seller last month with 167 cars sold, just ahead of the Koleos (144) and Clio (122).
With sales up 31.8 per cent over the same month last year, November 2013 saw Subaru Australia achieve an all-time monthly sales record of 4232 – 13 more than its previous high set early this year in March.
The figure was helped by the top-performing Forester, which hit 1521 units – up 67.7 per cent for the month and 18.6 per cent year-to-date – and the XV that shifted 1339 units – up 48.4 per cent for the month and 9.4 per cent year-to-date.
Also showing positive growth was the Subaru Impreza (895) and seven-seat Tribeca (140), up 88.8 per cent and 29.6 per cent for the month respectively.
Selling 1405 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs for the month, the Fiat Chrysler Group reached a new Australian sales record along with marking its fifth consecutive month of selling 1000-plus Grand Cherokees.
Comprising Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat/Abarth and Jeep, the group surpassed the 30,000-vehicle sales mark for the first time in a calendar year, finishing November with a 2013 total of 30,247.
The year’s penultimate month also gave the group its fourth consecutive month of total sales in excess of 3000 units, the 31st successive month of positive year-on-year sales growth for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, and the 13th successive for Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
Further, November 2013 was the best sales month on record for the Fiat/Abarth 500 (326), Fiat Freemont (147), Jeep brand (2176) and Fiat brand (511 excluding LCV). Fiat Chrysler SUVs also had their best month on record, 2462 units, aided by the Jeep Compass (364) and Patriot (193) having their best combined month of sales since June.
Other highlights for the group were Alfa Romeo (2115) ticking over the 2000-unit mark for the first time since 2003, the Chrysler 300 (2308) eclipsing 2000 units for the first time, and the Fiat brand passing sales of 4000 vehicles for the first time (4236 including LCV).
