DataLase Obtains Patent for Variprint Digital Printing

Digital printing firm DataLase has received a new patent for its Variprint digital printing platform that couples core color-change materials technology with next generation laser print engines.

Applicable for processes that demand high speed, high resolution and on-demand digital printing, the technology is stated to help brand owners print products and packaging in-line.

It has also got provisions for late stage customization.

DataLase program manager for materials Dr Anthony Jarvis said: "This patent further strengthens our position, providing overarching protection for a broad range of materials that enable inkless digital printing."

Variprint materials are capable of being incorporated into a broad spectrum of coatings, such as, water-based, solvent-based and UV curable systems, making way for virtually any substrate to be digitally printed.

DataLase CEO Chris Wyres said: "Variprint is the first of an exciting range of digital printing solutions that we are bringing to market with our strategic partners. Our unique technology platforms have been designed to meet the needs of brand owners, delivering enhanced flexibility, quality, productivity and consumer interaction."

Cheshire, UK-based DataLase manufactures high-speed digital printing products.

Recently, the firm obtained a patent for its Infinity colour digital printing system that utilises proprietary materials and hardware for enabling high speed, high resolution in-line colour digital printing for applications in flexography, gravure, screen and lithography.
